Polywog Buynar Tribute

Our thoughts go out to Dawn & Charles Buynar on the death of Polywog, their beloved 15 year old Domestic Short Hair. Adopted as a 5 week old kitten from the ASPCA, Polywog was quite the addition to the Buynar household. He had a huge personality and was a pretty large boy himself (being very long most of his years, even as a kitten). Their granddaughter would carry him around when he was just a little kitten and his long legs would drag the ground so that he was practically walking himself down the steps with her. She would often tell him he was 'kicked out' for being so noisy! As Polywog surely was a loud boy who loved to talk and well, really never shut up! Dawn & Charles believe he could've been part Siamese which would make sense where he gets the noisiness from! Once one of his feline sisters came and batted him right in the face, which shut him up...but only for about 2 hours. One Halloween when Charles was giving out candy for Trick or Treat, Polywog escaped- fitting for a black cat on Halloween. Unfortunately, Charles was headed to Germany the next day so Dawn would go out and call him every day. The day Charles got home, he was walking the dog and heard a faint meow. He bends down and low and behold it was Poly, who jumped right up onto his shoulders. Dawn was overjoyed when Charles walked in with Polywog around his neck!! From then on he didn't stray too far from the house, except maybe to sunbathe on the deck. He loved to try and herd the chickens and would often use his polydactyl paws to his advantage..often to open up the bunny cages and go in and groom them. Other times he'd use his paws to open up the fridge if they weren't being fed fast enough in the mornings. He would bat down a thing of butter and they would all enjoy that for breakfast while they awaited 'real' breakfast. Polywog loved to groom and when Charles got back from Afghanistan with a goatee, Poly jumped up and even groomed that! When Charles was in Afghanistan, he would often send back souvenirs that were wrapped in styrofoam and sometimes some sand would fall out too. Polywog loved both and would roll around in it until thrown away, which then he would go cry at the trash can for. Polywog was such the character, truly. Once Dawn came home to find and empty pupperoni container (which Poly had opened) and all the cats & dogs were in a food coma. His favorite thing to eat was Temptations treats which he would come running as fast as lightning for. Often times they referred to Polywog as their panther as he looked shiny and sleek always, along with his giant paws. He also walked with his tail curled up over his body and would sometimes wrap his tail around Charles' arm. Poly didn't prefer strangers in his house, so he hid when there was company. He adored all of his furry and feathered siblings and was always polite to any new member in the house. A sweet boy that even tolerated Sheamus when at times, he could be a little brat. He was still his best friend. After saying goodbyes to everyone, making his rounds..Polywog passed peacefully in Charles' arms with his family. Now reunited with his best friend Sheamus, may they run and play over the rainbow bridge together!
