Otis Batchellor Tribute

Our thoughts go out to Stacey and Dan Batchellor and family on the death of Otis, their handsome 11 year old English Mastiff.

"We applied to a rescue to adopt a smaller white dog back in 2012, but the rescue told us that dog was already adopted, and suggested we meet another dog named Otis. He wasn't "quite" what we were looking for, but according to the rescue, he was a great dog. We decided to meet Otis, and he stole our hearts within a few minutes of meeting him. I have to admit, I was taken back by his size at first. I stood there watching my husband help Otis jump into our truck that day and wondering how things would work out once we got home. But there were never any regrets, from that day on, he became such a huge part of our lives, and I couldn't imagine not having him as part of our family. He may not have had the best start in life, but one thing is for sure, he was genuinely loved by our family. Otis was so sweet and gentle and always very protective of "his kids." He loved everyone who walked through the door. Despite his size, he never once knocked anyone down. He would occasionally forget how big he was and try to sit on my lap or squeeze onto a chair that was way too small, which was really quite funny to watch. He loved to eat Italian food, and spaghetti and pizza were his favorites. Otis loved Christmas morning, and always looked forward to tearing open his doggie stocking filled with toys. Sometimes he would find it in my shopping bag beforehand while I was wrapping gifts and try to run off with his gifts early. He was really one of kind, and I am grateful for the time we got to spend together. I never thought I'd say this, but I almost miss getting "slimed" by him. Until we meet again Otis, sending my love to heaven."
