Petey Duck

Our thoughts go to the Duck family on the death of Petey, their pekinese.  The following was an award winning poem written by Katie for her "Sweet Pete"

Pit pitter-patter of little feet, the little feet of my Sweet Pete. Hurrying and scurrying to get to me, running so happy as he can be.  The suddenly he comes to a stop, he sees me and quickly a leap and a plop. Up on my lap, licking my face, tail wagging uncontrollably in my space.

Adventures together, like trick or treating, or opening presents at a Christmas meeting. I get a toy, he gets a bone, as long as we're together we're never alone. Going for walks on a warm spring day or chasing a butterfly far far away. He makes me laugh, I fall to the ground and I laugh so hard as we roll around.

I come home from school and there he is waiting. What will we do next? He's anticipating. I get us a snack of biscuits and cookies because he loves biscuits and all sorts of goodies.

Then it is time to do my books and he gives me one of his sad little looks, Like please let's go play, I've waited all day. At nighttime we cuddle and go to sleep. A much needed rest for me and Sweet Pete. Sleep tight, sleep tight, sleep tight, little Pete.

This story is true, I am not making it up, for my Sweet Pete is really my pup. Love unconditionally, joy so telling. I can feel my heart beating and swelling. Oh! How he loves me and shows it each day. For my Sweet Pete has a special way, of making me happy. I feel so lucky, for my Sweet Pete is my sweet puppy.
